In October 2000, the province of Lower Austria established an artist-in-residence program in Krems. In January 2006, the studio program was transferred by the provincial government to Kunstmeile Krems Betriebs GmbH as AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria. The long-term and general goal of AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria is an artist exchange at the institutional level. The scholarships are awarded with the aim of enabling foreign artists to work in Lower Austria and, in return, to obtain invitations for local artists to work abroad under comparable conditions.

As a project partner of AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria, Galerie Stadtpark selects scholarship recipients from the field of visual arts. In addition to artistic quality, the principle and facilitation of mutual exchange are always taken into consideration.

Application documents must be submitted to AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria by May 30 at the latest for the following year.
